Can’t believe it’s one year since I started blogging…Official Jennifer Peters Blog just clocked a year old on the 20th of June and I am excited about this. This has been  something I never envisioned for myself, so far, I’d say it’s been an amazing journey — overwhelming at times but still, it’s been worth it and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

I still remember how I was convinced by the hubby to pay for a domain name and make this official. Well, I’m glad I have a very supportive partner.

Anyone who tells you that blogging is easy is definitely lying to you. Blogging takes a lot of dedication and hard work to make it work. Probably more than your regular 9-5 because there are some distractions that come with working from home, so it gets really easy to put off work (in this case blogging).

Here are what this past year has taught…

One of the biggest things I’ve learned this last year is that not everyone is going to be supportive or understand the whole blogging thing.

It’s so hard for people to grasp the concept of being a blogger especially in Nigeria and I constantly hear people say “so how does blogging work” or “Is this your full-time job” or “can you really make money off blogging?”.

It felt so discouraging at first because it would make me feel like what I was doing wasn’t “REAL” or that people thought I just liked posting photos of myself on social media. But I’m glad I have a very supportive and understanding husband who constantly pushes me even when I don’t feel like pushing myself.

It doesn’t matter what people think, staying true to yourself is very essential. I used to be so self-conscious and worried about what others thought, which made me shy away from certain things or hide some of the skills I have.

One thing I’ve come to realize is that It will eventually show when you’re trying to be someone or something you’re not, the truth is, you’re better off being yourself.

As a blogger and being my own boss, one thing I’ve learnt is that for me to enjoy the life I really want then I need to put in the work. Being a freelancer & blogger has taught me to be more dedicated and I’ve been able to cultivate a lifestyle that works for me. Setting a work schedule around my lifestyle has helped me to be more disciplined, organized… I’ve been able to push myself out of my comfort zone and I’ve started to see the benefit.

So if you’re trying to start a blog, a business or side hustle of your own as a freelancer. Don’t let other people’s fear control your choice of whether or not you start. Don’t let them make you afraid to go for something you’re passionate about. In the end, what makes you feel fulfilled is all that matters.

I have so many goals and hopes for Official Jennifer Peters Blog. There are a certain number of followers and page views I’d like to gain. I want to do more collaborations with some amazing blogger and also work with more Brands.

However, One major goal I have is to be a little bit patient with myself and my personal growth. I don’t want to worry much about the numbers because ultimately these things will come with time and patience, most importantly believe in God’s timing.

I want to be able to help more people and really build up this community with the content I put out. It is my prayer that I’ll be more consistent and overall proud of what I’ve created here.

A big shoutout to all those that I’ve stuck with me from day one and those that keep on supporting, I’m truly grateful and happy. Thank you so much!!

So on that note, I’ll like for you to do me one more favour, and leave a comment just to let me know why you follow my blog and what you love about my content. What has been your favourite topics on the blog so far? I want to keep bringing you relevant content, so please let me know what you want to see and what I could do differently to better serve you with more value-driven contents.

Till next time

Loads of  Love❤️❤️❤️
