Being an Illustrator/Graphics Designer for almost a year means I constantly have to learn new techniques/skills related to drawing and design. YouTube has helped me so far but I’ve been looking for something more organized with better structure.
I had been doing well, getting some clients, doing some really good jobs until recently when I got a potential client that wanted me to design a children’s book with children characters.
I had never drawn characters like that so I really didn’t feel confident and I didn’t feel like I had the skills but I desperately wanted to get it. So as usual, I decided to do some research to see if I could teach myself.
I had registered with a platform called skillshare earlier and basically, Skillshare is like an online learning community with thousands of classes in design, illustration, Business etc. I remembered that I had seen a bunch of courses that taught drawings like children characters, so I went straight to it to see if I’d find one that could actually help.
And YES! I did. I found a course that had exactly what I needed. The lessons were well organized, and if you’ve been following my content you know I have mild OCD hahaha 😂 and I love when things are well organized.
Anyway, I went through the course, step by step and Came out with flying colours (my own assessment).
Here’s what my very first attempt looks like…
After all that though, that particular job fell through because the person’s budget was too low for me. But at least I know I’m ready for any children’s book client now. So yeah, contact me for your children’s book ☺️😉
